My "Go To’s" when I catch that Nasty Bug! ~Part 1 of 2~

ree

More often than not, when you’re a singer/Performer or Teacher… Virus’ tend to go straight for the Jugular… our Vocal Cords! So, Laryngitis or Chest Colds tend to be quite normal for anyone using their voices for work... So yes… I’ll say it once and I’ll say it over and over until you just can’t take it anymore…

#1) REST IS BEST! And sometimes? It’s the only thing you can do. If you have Laryngitis? You’re not even speaking! Let alone singing. You need more than a day of strict Vocal rest. That means, trying not to use your voice AT.ALL! You ask if you can Whisper? NAH! That’s even worse to whisper! Very bad for your little VC’s #2) STEAMING If you haven’t a handy steamer you can get from most Chemists. They're called a BOSISTOS INHALER.

Can be found at Chemist Warehouse:

https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/shop-online/1518/bosistos Canadian Website: At Shopper's: https://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/search?query=Steam+Inhaler American Website: https://www.amazon.com/steam-inhaler/s?k=steam+inhaler You can get your steam any which way possible! You don't have to purchase something... EG: A REALLY Hot shower produces some wonderful steam… and it feels nice to just be in a hot shower when you’re sick! A Bath is also nice and feels good, but may not produce that constant Steam a shower will! EG #2!

The other choice is very technical and scientific… Put Boiling hot water into a Bowl, ~Stick your head over the bowl, ~Drop a tea towel over your head to prevent steam to escape past your head. And… INHALE! Don’t get too close to the Steam though! It WILL burn your nostril hair! I speak from experience. NEXT WEEK! Part 2 of 2 on- My "Go-To's" When I catch that Nasty Bug! Stay Tuned!
